VideoTest-Metal software is designed for analyzing of optical microscope images of metals and alloys. It performs analyses according to international ASTM and ISO standards. The software includes several standard methods and a possibility to work in a manual mode.

VideoTesT-Metal provides automatic analysis for the following:

• grain size
  - steel grain size (ASTM 1382, E930, ISO 634, DIN EN ISO 643-2003)
  - prior austenitic grain size (ASTM E112, E1382)
  - non-ferrous metals and alloys grain size
• nonmetallic inclusions
  - determination of inclusions type (oxides, sulfides, oxides+sulfides)
  - estimation of the inclusions (ASTM E1245, E45, E1122, ISO 4967, DIN 50602)
• percentage of microstructural constituents:
  - relative contents of ferrite and pearlite
  - ferrite content in austenitic steel bars
  - carbide inhomogeneity in alloyed tool steels
  - length of martensitic laths and needles
• graphite inclusions in cast iron (ASTM A247)
• Vickers and Knoop hardness methods (ASTM E384, E92)
• porosity of metallic materials
• decarburized layer depth(ASTM A247, ISO 3887)
• determination of the depth of any modified layers and coatings
